'Big Chief' Paul (PJ) Jarvis, the founding member of the band and native of Troy, Illinois, is featured on lead vocals and accordian. He also doubles on sousaphone, trombone, trumpet, drums, acoustic guitar, banjo, harp, and the list goes on and on... In the past, PJ has played with notable bands like Medusa, Broken Arrow, Boulderdash, James R, High Horse, and the Double Eagle band. He has also appeared with Bob Case and other local artists. PJ is the principal songwriter for the group and publishes all the Crawdaddy’s original material.
A professional taxidermist, PJ is an avid outdoorsman and frequently conducts demonstrations at local frontier arts and crafts shows. Here he can be seen decked out in period gear, hawking handmade longbows, arrows, and turkey calls... And NO, he will not stuff your neighbor's cat, dead or alive...
The Big Chief is also deathly afraid of computers and email, but you can stay current with the Daddy's on Facebook or on our schedule page.
Paul was recently invited by KTVI Channel 2 in Saint Louis to help celebrate Willie Nelson's 80th Birthday.
The good folks of this radio program often give Paul a call on Willie Nelson's birthday and other events. Give them a listen on 590 AM from 3 to 6 PM.
In addition to fronting the Zydeco Crawdaddys, PJ stays busy with solo engagements featuring The Old Barn Boys, who play traditional country music. He is also building a regional reputation as a Willie Nelson impersonator.
